Korzinka pays penalty for violating advertising laws
The Korzinka supermarket chain voluntarily paid a fine for violating the law “On advertising”, Kun.uz was reported by the company’s press service.
“Korzinka made changes and additions to the public offer and communication materials of the program, taking into account the comments from the committee, and also voluntarily paid the fine,” the company reported.
The retail chain also stated that the Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee granted a deferment for the fulfillment of the requirements to change the advertisement about the “lowest price”.
“Considering that editing and republishing a large number of communication materials takes a lot of time and resources, Korzinka asked the Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee to extend the deadline for fulfilling the instructions. The Committee met halfway and satisfied the request, deciding to extend the deadline until October 16,” the commentary reads.
Earlier, Kun.uz wrote that the Committee opened a case against Korzinka on July 15.
According to the department, the advertising distributed by the network uses phrases that can mislead users. As an example, the Committee cited the following:
“The lowest price for everyday purchases”, “The lowest price is at Korzinka”, “… Come for the best deal!”
Later, the company itself responded that they constantly “monitor” prices at bazaars, supermarkets and other retail outlets in order to set the lowest prices.
