Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan undertake to increase number of mutual flights
The construction of joint tourism and business complexes in Tashkent and Baku was discussed.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev is holding talks with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the press service of the head of state reported.
The meeting discussed the expansion of bilateral cooperation and strategic partnership. The President of Uzbekistan announced the signing of an agreement on allied relations with Azerbaijan.
The parties agreed to declare 2025 the Year of Economic Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. It is planned to adopt a comprehensive cooperation program in 20 areas.
A portfolio of projects worth more than $2 billion was formed during the Uzbek-Azerbaijani business forum the day before. It includes projects in the mining industry, energy, chemical industry, textile industry, agriculture, urban development and other areas.
The “effective work” of the Uzbek-Azerbaijani Investment Company in supporting bilateral initiatives was noted. The joint investment fund was established in February 2023.
Another priority was the development of transport, communications and infrastructure links. The parties agreed to increase the frequency of flights, simplify ground and air transportation.
In addition, the presidents discussed plans to build joint tourism and business complexes in Tashkent and Baku. With their help, it is expected to increase tourist flows and strengthen business exchange.
A separate plan for interregional cooperation for 2025 will be adopted, as well as a partnership program for the development of industrial potential and infrastructure in the regions. The Uzbek-Azerbaijani forum of regions will be held in Kokand.
