Uzbekistan outlaws job discrimination based on relatives' criminal records
A new amendment to the Labor Code aims to combat discrimination in hiring practices.
Amendments are being made to the Labor Code and the Law "On Public Service" to prevent discrimination. The relevant law was adopted by members of the Senate at the fifty-sixth plenary session.
According to the new amendment, denying employment due to the criminal record of close relatives, including those with expunged records, will be considered illegal.
Senators emphasized that this law will further strengthen legal guarantees for the protection of citizens, ensuring equal opportunities in exercising their rights, including in the hiring process.
