Uzbekistan to ratify ILO Convention on Paid Annual Leave
According to the document, every worker is entitled to a minimum of 3 weeks of annual leave.
The Legislative Chamber has approved a law ratifying another convention of the International Labor Organization (ILO) after three readings.
The Paid Annual Leave Convention was adopted in Geneva in 1970. Its main goal is to ensure that all workers receive paid leave, allowing them to take time off from work while retaining their job and salary, thus upholding their right to rest.
According to the document, all employed workers are entitled to an annual paid leave of no less than three weeks.
If an employee has worked less time than required for a full vacation during the year, they are entitled to leave proportional to the time worked. The minimum period of work required to qualify for leave should not exceed 6 months.
Competent authorities in the countries that are parties to the convention have the right to regulate the division of leave into parts. Unless otherwise stipulated in the employment contract, one of the parts of the leave must last at least two weeks.
To date, 38 countries have ratified the Convention, including Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Germany, Finland, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Sweden.
