Uzbekistan's Religious Affairs Committee announces new licensing regulations for Umrah service organizers

The Religious Affairs Committee of Uzbekistan has issued a warning regarding the increase in advertisements by tour operators offering services for organizing Umrah trips scheduled for October to December. The committee emphasized that starting from October 5 of this year, any activities in this sector without a proper license will be deemed illegal and may result in significant penalties.

According to the amendments to the law "On Licensing, Permitting, and Notification Procedures," signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on July 2, 2024, organizing and conducting Umrah events will be classified as a distinct type of licensed activity starting October 5.

Legal entities found violating this regulation may face fines of 200 times the BCU, amounting to 68 million UZS.

Additionally, the Religious Affairs Committee has been designated as the authorized body responsible for licensing activities in this area.
