Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrives in Samarkand to participate in AIIB forum
The President of Uzbekistan is set to participate in the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) meeting and hold several bilateral discussions on the sidelines of the forum.
Today, September 25, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Samarkand to attend the annual meeting of the AIIB Board of Governors.
The president is expected to deliver an opening speech at the plenary session of the meeting and hold a series of high-level meetings during the forum.
The main theme of the ninth AIIB Board of Governors' meeting is “Building Sustainable Infrastructure for All.” The event will address pressing global economic issues and discuss strategic programs and infrastructure development plans for Asia and other regions of the world.
Delegations from over 100 countries, high-level officials from the AIIB, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and other international institutions, top managers from leading global companies, and prominent experts will participate in the two-day summit in Samarkand. Approximately 2,000 delegates are expected to attend.
Uzbekistan has been a member of the AIIB since November 2016.
