President Mirziyoyev meets UAE Crown Prince, discusses major investments and strategic partnership

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with a high-ranking delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) led by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense. The meeting, held today, focused on further developing multifaceted partnerships between the two nations, advancing economic and investment cooperation, and exploring practical collaboration in the defense sector.

According to the presidential press service, the UAE delegation included key officials such as Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammad bin Abdullah Al-Gergawi, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohammed Al Mazroui, Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al-Marri, and State Minister for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Omar bin Sultan Al-Olama.

At the outset, Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and conveyed greetings from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The discussion emphasized the creation of a new long-term agenda for mutually beneficial cooperation in critical areas such as investment, innovation, green energy, infrastructure, education, healthcare, environmental protection, digital transformation, and tourism.

Both sides commended the positive outcomes of the joint forum held earlier in the day, which explored the potential for deeper cooperation, as well as the intergovernmental and interagency negotiations that took place. A key outcome of the talks was the agreement to implement a "roadmap" for expanding full-scale collaboration in strategic sectors.

The UAE remains one of Uzbekistan's key partners in the Asian region. Recent high-level contacts between the two countries occurred during the Global Climate Summit in Dubai last December.

Bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and the UAE grew by 21% in 2023, reaching $626 million. There are currently over 320 UAE-backed enterprises operating in Uzbekistan, with an investment project portfolio valued at around $20 billion.
