Uzbekistan welcomes Liberia as its 154th diplomatic partner
In a significant development for international relations, Uzbekistan has officially established diplomatic relations with Liberia, marking the 154th country to enter into such an agreement. The announcement was made by Uzbekistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bakhtiyor Saidov, following a meeting with Liberia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, in New York.
During their discussions, which occurred on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, both ministers signed a joint communiqué affirming their commitment to fostering diplomatic ties. Minister Saidov shared the news on his Telegram channel, stating, “Liberia has become the 154th country with which we have established diplomatic relations.” He emphasized that the two countries would coordinate efforts through their respective foreign ministries to develop an initial agenda for future collaboration.
This meeting in New York is part of Minister Saidov's broader diplomatic outreach. Earlier in his visit, he signed similar joint communiqués with Cabo Verde, Seychelles, Burundi, and Botswana, highlighting Uzbekistan's proactive stance in expanding its international partnerships.
The establishment of these diplomatic relations underscores a mutual interest in promoting collaboration across various sectors, including political, economic, and cultural initiatives. Both countries are expected to explore opportunities for cooperation that could benefit their respective populations.
As Uzbekistan continues to strengthen its diplomatic network, the government is optimistic about the potential for fruitful partnerships that will enhance regional stability and economic development.
