CIS launches election observation mission in Uzbekistan
The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) has officially launched its election observation mission in Tashkent, ahead of the upcoming elections for the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis. The mission aims to monitor the electoral process and ensure its transparency and fairness.
During a meeting on September 27, Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bobur Usmanov, met with Denis Trefilov, the Deputy Secretary-General of the CIS, to discuss the mission's objectives and activities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the establishment of the CIS mission's headquarters in Tashkent marks a significant step in facilitating effective election monitoring.
The officials also reviewed preparations for the upcoming CIS summit and discussed various matters related to the organization's current activities. Notably, Yevgeny Kozyak, the head of the CIS observation mission, was present at the meeting, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in overseeing the electoral process.
