South Korea to build $6.2 million waste recycling plant in Jizzakh region
Uzbekistan and South Korea have signed a grant agreement to construct a waste recycling plant in the Jizzakh region. The four-year project, valued at $6.2 million, was formalized during a visit by Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, Iskandar Kutbiddinov, to Seoul, where he held talks with South Korean officials and businesses.
The agreement, signed with the Korea Environment Corporation (K-eco) under South Korea's Ministry of Environment, aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of waste management and environmental safety. As part of the project, South Korea will share its expertise and technology to improve waste management in Uzbekistan.
The plant will focus on reclaiming a landfill site, collecting 300,000 cubic meters of waste, and using pyrolysis technology to capture and incinerate landfill gas. Additionally, the facility will be equipped with an electricity generator to convert waste into energy.
This collaboration is expected to contribute significantly to Uzbekistan's environmental goals by addressing waste management challenges and promoting sustainable energy production in the Jizzakh region.
