Customs authorities apprehend man trying to smuggle 380 million UZS worth of jewelry into Uzbekistan

A man attempting to smuggle jewelry valued at 380 million UZS (approximately $31,000) was intercepted at the "Gishtkoprik" border customs post, the Tashkent Regional Customs Department reported.
The incident occurred when customs officers noticed suspicious behavior from a pedestrian attempting to enter Uzbekistan through the Gishtkoprik checkpoint. Following a thorough inspection, authorities discovered jewelry weighing a total of 450 grams, concealed by taping it around the man's legs and within his undergarments.
The seized jewelry is estimated to be worth 380 million UZS based on preliminary calculations.
Customs officials have launched an investigation into the case to determine further details and enforce relevant legal measures.
