Gov’t identifies 177 billion UZS in budget overspending and misuse

The government of Uzbekistan has identified 177 billion UZS in budget overspending and illegal expenditures, according to recent findings by the Accounts Chamber. An additional 395 billion UZS in risks detected through the Accounts Chamber's "Remote Audit" system across ministries have been addressed.

Sardor Usmanov, a senior official at the Accounts Chamber, shared the results of these control measures and analyses:

•  Excessive and unlawful expenses totaling 54.5 billion UZS were prevented.
•  New sources of revenue totaling 3.6 trillion UZS for the state budget were identified, and efforts are underway to collect these funds.
•  The investigation revealed 177 billion UZS in budget overspending and unauthorized expenditures, and steps have been taken to rectify these issues and prevent recurrence.

During a review of state procurement processes, it was uncovered that 3,200 contracts were signed with conflicts of interest, violating legal requirements. Of these, nine contracts were found to include inflated prices of 1.9 billion UZS and falsified entries amounting to 1.5 billion UZS.
