"Uzbekistan ready to provide free medical treatment to Palestinian women and children affected by the violence" - Shavkat Mirziyoyev
The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev underscored the importance of an immediate and peaceful resolution to the ongoing Middle East conflict during an extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit held in Saudi Arabia on November 11.
Speaking at the Riyadh event, hosted under Saudi Arabia’s leadership, Mirziyoyev emphasized Uzbekistan’s readiness to provide free medical treatment to Palestinian women and children affected by the violence, marking a strong humanitarian commitment amid escalating regional tensions.
The summit gathered leaders from prominent Middle Eastern, South and Central Asian, and African countries to discuss collaborative international efforts to de-escalate violence in Gaza and Lebanon and seek a sustainable political solution. Mirziyoyev expressed deep appreciation to Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for convening the summit, describing it as a significant step toward addressing the pressing Palestinian issue on the global agenda.

Reflecting on the past year since the last summit in Riyadh, President Mirziyoyev noted with concern the conflict’s expansion into Lebanon, calling for all practical diplomatic efforts to address the crisis. He voiced strong support for peaceful and diplomatic solutions to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, underscoring the urgency of halting hostilities, ensuring safe humanitarian corridors, and initiating peace negotiations under the close supervision of the United Nations and its Security Council.
During his remarks, Mirziyoyev reiterated Uzbekistan’s backing of the two-state solution, affirming the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. In this context, he praised the formation of a global alliance supporting the two-state solution, which was established through Saudi Arabia’s initiative.
In response to the humanitarian crisis affecting Palestinians and Lebanese civilians, Mirziyoyev called for an expansion of international aid, including support from the United Nations and its specialized agencies. Highlighting Uzbekistan’s own readiness, he announced the country’s commitment to treat Palestinian children and women injured in the conflict within Uzbek hospitals, providing this medical assistance free of charge.
Mirziyoyev also conveyed his intention to continue supporting Palestinian humanitarian efforts at the upcoming “Gulf Arab States – Central Asia” summit in Samarkand next year. Additionally, he underscored the importance of preserving Jerusalem’s historical and cultural heritage, particularly the sacred Al-Aqsa Mosque and other unique monuments, emphasizing the need to protect their integrity.
Concluding his address, Mirziyoyev expressed hope that this summit would serve as a meaningful step toward resolving the Middle East conflict. Following discussions, summit participants adopted a joint resolution, affirming their collective commitment to accelerating diplomatic efforts toward a peaceful resolution.
