ADB to help establish 500 preschools across Uzbekistan’s regions
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has been appointed as a transaction advisor to the Ministries of Preschool and School Education, and Economy and Finance in Uzbekistan. The initiative aims to enhance preschool education quality through public-private partnerships (PPPs) in the Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, and Tashkent regions. This builds on ADB’s ongoing advisory role in developing 100 preschools in the Samarkand region.
With ADB’s support, up to 500 preschools — approximately 100 in each of the five regions — will be established, potentially benefiting 75,000 students. These projects align with Uzbekistan’s Strategy 2030, which aims to modernize the country’s education system.
“ADB’s transaction advisory support will bring best practices in the management and operation of pre-schools and help enhance the quality and sustainability of pre-school education,” said ADB Country Director for Uzbekistan Kanokpan Lao-Araya. “These projects mark another step toward ADB supporting private sector development in Uzbekistan. The projects will contribute to developing a foundation for an education system aligned with international standards.”
The advisory services provided by ADB will cover project preparation, structuring, and assistance in procuring qualified private partners.
Drawing on its extensive experience in developing Uzbekistan's PPP market, ADB will support both the government and the private sector in implementing these projects. To date, the bank has facilitated PPP initiatives in various sectors, including education, healthcare, renewable energy, utilities, waste management, and water services.
