Illegal energy use causes $7.6M in losses for Uzbekistan
UzEnergoInspection has uncovered 358 cases of illegal gas and electricity use in Uzbekistan this year, resulting in 98 billion UZS ($7.6 million) in losses.

It was determined that 25.4 million cubic meters of natural gas, worth 62.2 billion UZS ($4.8 million), and 29.4 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, worth 35.8 billion UZS ($2.8 million), were illegally consumed.
Additionally, inspections uncovered violations involving 370.8 tons of oil products, valued at 6.3 billion UZS ($489,000). A total of 342 administrative cases were filed against consumers for breaching energy usage regulations.
Among the identified violations, 142 cases involved unauthorized electricity consumption, while 200 cases were related to the illegal use of natural gas.
Furthermore, inspections of repair activities at energy facilities revealed potential threats to human safety. The operations of 37 work brigades were reviewed, and 16 brigades were suspended for failing to implement necessary technical and organizational safety measures.
As part of its oversight role, UzEnergoInspection also conducted expert evaluations of electrical supply projects for 1,055 facilities with a total capacity of 214 MW. As a result, 733 consumers were granted permission to connect their electrical equipment to the power grid.
