Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are set to establish an Industrial Cooperation Center at their shared border.
According to Kazinform, members of the Kazakh Parliament have approved a draft law on the ratification of the agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan regulating the operation of the Central Asia Industrial Cooperation Center.
Kazakhstan’s Minister of Trade and Integration, Arman Shakkaliev, emphasized that this agreement implements the decision made at the 20th meeting of the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation.
The center will be located near the Atameken (Kazakhstan) and Guliston (Uzbekistan) border checkpoints and will include production facilities, warehouses, and transport infrastructure. This development is expected to accelerate cargo transportation, reduce logistics costs, decrease the number of intermediaries in supply chains, lower the final cost of products for consumers, enhance delivery speed, and foster manufacturing cooperation within the North-South transport corridor.
The total area of the facility will span 100 hectares, with an equal division of 50 hectares between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The designated site will be recognized as a regional industrial zone.
According to Kazinform, the center’s infrastructure will be developed using non-budgetary funds.
