Samarkand to host the World Triathlon and Para Triathlon Cup in May
On May 24-25, 2025, Samarkand will host the World Triathlon and Para Triathlon Cup, bringing together elite athletes from around the world to compete at the highest level.

According to the organizing committee, Samarkand will welcome participants from over 20 countries, with athletes competing for top honors. The winners of the race will gain a significant advantage in securing ranking points for qualification in the next Olympic Games.
The World Triathlon Cup made its debut in Samarkand in 2024 and immediately received top marks from the international federation, World Triathlon, along with enthusiastic feedback from both athletes and spectators.
During the World Triathlon Cup, athletes will compete in the Standard distance format, which includes:
- Swimming – 1.5 km
- Cycling – 19 km
- Running – 10 km
Meanwhile, the World Triathlon Para Cup will feature para-athletes in various classifications:
- Athletes with physical impairments (PTS2-3-4-5)
- Wheelchair athletes (PTWC)
- Athletes with visual impairments competing alongside their guides (PTVI)
These athletes will race in the Super Sprint format:
- Swimming – 750 m
- Cycling – 40 km
- Running – 5 km
As part of the World Cup event, Samarkand will also host the Uzbekistan Open Triathlon Championship, featuring both professional athletes and amateur competitors.
Additionally, athletes in the AGE Group category will take part in the Standard distance competition.
The event will take place at the Silk Road Samarkand tourist complex, the largest leisure and hospitality center in the region. The venue, featuring eight modern hotels, will offer exclusive conditions for participants, including special accommodation discounts.
