World Happiness Report: Uzbekistan ranks 53rd

Finland maintains its lead for the eighth consecutive year in this ranking.

The United Nations has released its latest report dedicated to International Happiness Day, featuring the customary ranking of the world’s happiest countries. Once again, Finland tops the list, securing the number one spot for the eighth year in a row.

Uzbekistan placed 53rd in terms of happiness levels. Among its Central Asian neighbors, Kazakhstan ranked 43rd, Kyrgyzstan 75th, and Tajikistan 90th. Turkmenistan was not included in the list.

The ranking is compiled based on the Gallup World Poll, which surveys residents of more than 140 countries. It assesses happiness levels by evaluating quality of life over the past three years.

The analysis considers six key indicators: GDP per capita, social support, life expectancy, freedom, generosity, and perceptions of corruption.

Northern European countries continue to dominate the ranking. Following Finland, Denmark, Iceland, and Sweden secured top positions, while Norway climbed to seventh place this year.

Two Latin American nations — Costa Rica (sixth) and Mexico (10th) — entered the top 10 happiest countries for the first time. The leading group also includes the Netherlands (fifth), Israel (eighth), and Luxembourg (ninth).

The United States, which fell out of the top 20 happiest countries for the first time in 2024, ranked 24th in 2025. Russia improved its position, rising to 66th from 72nd the previous year.

Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Malawi, and Zimbabwe were identified as the least happy countries. Afghanistan, for the sixth consecutive year, ranks at the bottom of the list.
