Uzbekistan appoints new Consul General in Jeddah
The newly appointed Consul General of Uzbekistan, Sirojiddin Shamshutdinov, met with Ahmed Mohammed Qutb, the First Deputy Director General of the Jeddah branch of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, the Saudi representative expressed satisfaction with the close, friendly, and trusting relationship between the leaders of the two nations, which has elevated interstate relations to a new level of quality and substance. He highlighted the increasingly active cooperation and mutual visits across all sectors.
The Saudi side also praised the participation of Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister, Bakhtiyor Saidov, in the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers, held on March 7 in Jeddah.
Shamshutdinov provided an overview of the extensive reforms underway in Uzbekistan across economic, political, scientific-educational, and religious spheres.
At the conclusion of the discussion, the Saudi side affirmed its readiness to further strengthen mutually beneficial ties with Uzbekistan in trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian, and consular-legal areas, in collaboration with the Consul General in Jeddah. They pledged comprehensive practical support and extended best wishes for success and prosperity to the newly appointed head of the diplomatic mission.
Prior to this appointment, Shamshutdinov served in Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2017 to 2021, he was the Consul General of Uzbekistan in Jeddah. He is fluent in Arabic and English.
