Classes to be suspended at 10 Samarkand institutions during EU-Central Asia summit
The city of Samarkand will host the first official "Central Asia – European Union" summit and an international conference over two days. In connection with these events, a short-term academic break has been announced for 10 universities and technical colleges in the region from April 1 to April 5. Academic activities will resume on April 7.
The "Central Asia – European Union" summit will take place in Samarkand from April 3 to April 5.
According to an official statement from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, measures will be implemented to limit and reduce transportation movement in the city to ensure a high-level event and maintain security.
As a result, a short-term academic break will be granted from April 1 to April 5 for the following higher education institutions, as well as their affiliated technical colleges and academic lyceums:
- Samarkand State University
- Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages
- Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service
- Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage
- Samarkand Branch of Tashkent University of Information Technologies
- Samarkand State Medical University
- Uzbekistan-Finland Pedagogical Institute
- Academic Lyceum of Samarkand State Medical University
- Academic Lyceum of Samarkand State University
- Siab Public Health Technical College Named After Abu Ali Ibn Sina
Academic activities will resume on Monday, April 7. The Ministry clarified that missed classes will be rescheduled during the initial days of the summer break to compensate for the pause in education.
