Parliament raises concerns over treatment of Uzbek nationals abroad, sends inquiry to Foreign Minister
The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis has sent a parliamentary inquiry to Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov concerning the protection of the legal interests of Uzbek citizens residing abroad.
The Foreign Ministry was asked to provide information on the measures being taken to safeguard the rights and lawful interests of Uzbek nationals overseas.
This was reported by MP Alisher Kadirov. However, he did not clarify whether the inquiry pertains to a specific incident or addresses the general situation of citizens abroad.
It is worth noting that just recently, Kyrgyzstan demanded an explanation from Russia following reports of mistreatment of its citizens. Russian Ambassador Sergey Vakunov was summoned to the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry and handed an official note, requesting clarification regarding a raid conducted on April 11 at the “Bodrost” bathhouse in Moscow, during which Kyrgyz citizens were allegedly targeted.
