Salimov: Uzbek automobile industry is not afraid of competitors, now one car is assembled in just 24 hours
The Uzbek car industry is competitive compared to other global automakers, it managed to accomplish something nearly impossible in six months - it increased the production of cars by 50 thousand units, Umidjon Salimov, deputy chairman of the board of Uzavtosanoat, said.
"Previously, we spent more than 50 hours on the production of one car, while the world figures are about 24 hours. Now, at our plant in Asaka, cars are assembled for no more than 24 hours. This happened thanks to the introduction of new production mechanisms. We are currently using the “Just In Time” service system, that is, all suppliers send us components on the conveyor just in time. Previously, we could not even dream of it,” he said.
According to him, it has allowed to increase the volume of production to 220 thousand cars per year.
“To increase the production volume by 50 thousand cars in six months is a very difficult task. The automobile industry of the republic, thanks to the resources that were available, was able to do it. Now we intend to engage in various areas of the automobile industry, which until today has not even been discussed. For us it is now very important to be at the level of world leaders,” Salimov noted.
To this end, he added, the KPI system is being introduced at the auto industry enterprises, which makes it possible to increase local responsibility.
“The products we manufacture are competitive. We do not call anyone our competitors, they are rather our partners, we learn from other manufacturers, they learn from us. Honestly, we are not afraid of competition,” Umidjon Salimov added.
