Serial production of Hyundai cars in the Kokand free economic zone is scheduled to begin by 2023, UzA reports.

Earlier, the press service of the President reported about plans of the South Korean company.

According to UzA, the construction of a plant with a capacity of 10,000 electric vehicles per year should begin in 2021. The project cost is $300 million.

In addition to Hyundai, Evergreen Motors (the official distributor of KIA and Hyundai in the CIS), the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and the administration of Fergana region are participating in the project. As a result of its implementation, 1,000 jobs will be created.
