Uzbekistan to celebrate Eid al-Adha on August 11
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today signed a decree on celebration of Kurban Khayit (Eid al-Adha) on August 11 (Sunday).
According to the document, taking into account the request of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, August 11 is announced as public holiday.
The decision was taken given the role and importance of Kurban Khayit in spiritual life of Uzbekistan, with the aim of preserving and praising national-spiritual values.
The relevant state and non-governmental organizations were instructed to take necessary measures in connection with the conduct of Kurban Khayit at places.
The National Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan, the National News Agency and other mass media are recommended to widely cover events related to the celebration of Kurban Khayit.
