Uzbekistan, US discuss political settlement of the conflict in Afghanistan

On September 25, 2019, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met in New York with the US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad, the MFA press service reports.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan and possible ways of developing the peace process.

The course of implementing the socio-economic and infrastructure projects initiated by Uzbekistan in Afghanistan was also discussed.

The sides reaffirmed their interest in the speedy achievement of national reconciliation and a political settlement of the conflict in Afghanistan.
