Trade-in program launch delayed
Starting from October 1, Uzbekistan was supposed to introduce the trade-in program, which provides people with the opportunity to purchase a new vehicle of local production by handing over the used one to an authorized dealer and paying the difference in its value.
It should be recalled that on July 18 of the current year, Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On additional measures for the accelerated development of the automotive industry of Uzbekistan”.
The project was intended to be implemented with the proposal of the Ministry of Economy and Industry and JSC Uzavtosanoat.
In addition, the Ministry of Internal Affairs was instructed to provide official dealers of local car manufacturers with appropriate security reference account forms for the sale of used vehicles purchased under the trade-in program.
On October 2, Kun.uz correspondents contacted several car dealerships located in Tashkent to find out about the process of implementing the trade-in program.
Correspondents called 10 car dealerships, but only 4 of them answered the calls.
“We are aware that from October 1, we must have introduced the trade-in program, but it has not yet been approved at the plant. We don’t exactly know how it will work,” one of the car dealerships said.
A representative of another car dealership noted that now “there is a mass check and it will be possible to talk about the program after October 8”.
“So far, silence. We don’t know anything,” another car dealership said.
During a conversation with a representative of one of the car dealerships, it was identified that at present, relevant departments are “filling out documents”, that is to say, they are still preparing the program.
“The process has not yet been launched. Documents are being prepared, but it will be launched soon. The automobile industry is completing the whole process, but we don’t know exactly what’s happening,” he said.
Unfortunately, it was not possible to obtain information about the above program from the JSC Uzavtosanoat, because the line was constantly busy.
