Abdulaziz Kamilov receives new head of UNFPA Office Yu Yu

On January 8, 2020, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the new head of UNFPA Office Yu Yu, the MFA press service said.

The UNFPA Office head conveyed a letter from the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund Natalia Kanem on his appointment to Uzbekistan.

Kamilov congratulated Yu Yu on his appointment and wished him successful work.

During the talks, the parties confirmed their interest in deepening mutually beneficial cooperation and improving the effectiveness of implementing joint projects aimed at ensuring sustainable development. Practical issues related to the census conducted in Uzbekistan with the assistance of UNFPA in 2022 were also considered at the meeting.

It was noted that Uzbekistan attaches great importance to cooperation with the UN and considers it as a universal instrument designed to solve both global security problems and the issues of socio-economic development of countries and regions.
