MES evacuates 14 civilians trapped in Kamchik pass
Practical assistance was provided to vehicles and citizens trapped in the Kamchik pass, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) reported.
It was noted that on February 6, at 19:05, a special search and dispatch department of the Kamchik Special Fire and Rescue Department reported a sudden change in the weather on the 242-km northern ring road of the A-373 Tashkent-Osh highway passing through the Kamchik pass. As a result, 14 people stranded on the pass were in need of assistance.
Special equipment and rescue workers from the Kamchik rescue squad arrived at the scene and evacuated 14 people trapped in the mountains and their vehicles.
At 20:10, rescuers took all citizens downstairs and provided practical assistance in sending them to their destinations. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
Earlier, the MES had warned of a sharp deterioration in the weather at the Kamchik pass.
From February 6 to 7, in the area of the Kamchik pass of the A-373 Tashkent-Osh highway, snowfall, occasional heavy precipitation and fog can be observed.
Visibility in the pass is expected to decrease to 50 meters, wind speed will increase to 17-22 m/s and in the short term to 25-27 m/s, skidding and snowdrifts are expected on the highway.
