Uzbekistan sees considerable surge in outbound tourism
According to the Statistics Agency, 4.5 million citizens of Uzbekistan traveled abroad for tourism between January and September 2024. This represents a 35.8% increase, or 1.2 million more travelers, compared to the same period in 2023.
The majority of Uzbek tourists visited neighboring Kyrgyzstan, which accounted for 2.1 million travelers. Tajikistan followed with 895,100 visitors, and Kazakhstan ranked third with 719,900 Uzbek tourists. Other popular destinations included Russia, with 222,900 travelers, and Turkey, with 180,900 visitors.
Additionally, 121,900 Uzbeks visited Saudi Arabia, 90,300 went to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and 32,100 traveled to Egypt. Kuwait and South Korea attracted 20,000 and 17,500 Uzbek tourists, respectively, while other destinations collectively received 128,200 travelers.
The significant increase in outbound tourism highlights the growing demand for international travel among citizens of Uzbekistan.
