Legislative Chamber reduces committees from 12 to 10 in streamlining effort
The Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis has streamlined its structure by reducing the number of parliamentary committees from 12 to 10. The change was announced during the inaugural session of the newly elected parliament, attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The reform aims to enhance the efficiency of parliamentary operations by focusing on collaboration and oversight. President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of fostering close cooperation between the committees and various ministries to achieve legislative and governance goals effectively.
New Parliamentary Committees and Their Chairs
- Committee on Agricultural and Water Management – chaired by Ravshan Mamuto.
- Committee on Budget and Economy – chaired by Sharofiddin Nazarov.
- Committee on Democratic Institutions and Civil Society Development – chaired by Gulrukh Agzamova.
- Committee on Innovation Development and Information Technology – chaired by Ilkhom Abdullaev.
- Committee on Combating Corruption and the Judicial-Legal System – chaired by Jahongir Shirinov.
- Committee on Labor, Healthcare, and Social Policy (chair not yet announced).
- Committee on Entrepreneurship, Competition Development, and Industry – chaired by Bobur Bekmurodov.
- Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Sports, and Youth – chaired by Nodir Jumayev.
- Committee on International Affairs, Defense, and Security – chaired by Ulugbek Shermatov.
- Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection – chaired by Khayrullo Gafforov.
