Uzbekistan’s government resigns, continues interim operations until new government is formed
On November 19, Uzbekistan’s Cabinet of Ministers, led by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, formally resigned, following the constitutional requirement to relinquish its authority to the newly formed chambers of Oliy Majlis (parliament).
Under Article 116 of Uzbekistan’s Constitution and Article 7 of the Law "On the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan," the government must step down after the formation of a new Oliy Majlis. This ensures a smooth transition and alignment of executive leadership with the newly established legislative framework.
Despite the resignation, the Cabinet of Ministers will continue to operate temporarily under a presidential decree. This measure is aimed at ensuring continuity in governance and preventing disruptions in the government’s activities until a new Cabinet is formed.
The next steps involve the president appointing a new prime minister and members of the Cabinet, who must be approved by the Oliy Majlis.
