Uzbekistan remains one of the major importers of electricity from Tajikistan

In 2021, Tajikistan sold more electricity abroad than in 2020, said the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the republic, Daler Juma, at a press conference.
The country exported almost 2.5 billion kWh of electricity. This is more by 900 million kWh than in 2020, the head of the department emphasized.
The main part of exports falls on Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
During the reporting period, Uzbekistan purchased about 1 billion kWh of electricity from Tajikistan for more than $23 million.
According to the Ministry of Energy, Tajikistan has significantly increased electricity production.
In 2021, the level of generated resources amounted to more than 20 billion kWh, an increase of 4.3% compared to 2020.
