Uzbekistan, Tajikistan eye to increase trade turnover to $1 billion
The following meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade-economic cooperation was held in Dushanbe under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and his Tajik counterpart Kokhir Rasulzoda.
The heads of the delegation noted that the volume of trade has increased in recent years and reached $757 million by 2023. The two countries announced their intention to increase trade turnover to $1 billion in the coming years by intensifying work on joint projects in the fields of industrial cooperation, energy, agriculture and water management, transport and logistics.
Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are paying special attention to the creation of an international border trade zone, the establishment of wholesale distribution centers for the export of agricultural products to other countries in bordering regions.
